Not been posting much because I’ve been really into the 3rd generation behavioral therapies of radical behaviorism like ACT. Found a copy of Sartre’s Being and Nothingness at the used bookstore in the Commons today, and getting into to chickens and mushroom cultivation around the home!

Guess what law goes into effect the same exact...
To fully understand what went on you need a little a short history lesson dating back to the great year of 2008. You remember 2008 right? Oil prices shot up to $4+ gallon. A government agency called the CFTC(Commodity Futures Trading Commission) did an investigation. The CFTC found out that that TWO guys & one trading firm caused the entire 2008 high oil price fiasco. Here is the important...

Climate change has killed yellow cedar trees on... →
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — U.S. Forest Service researchers have confirmed what has long been suspected about a valuable tree in Alaska’s Panhandle: climate warming is killing off yellow cedar. The mighty trees can live more than 1,000 years, resisting bugs and rot and even defending themselves against injury, but their shallow roots are vulnerable to freezing if soil is not insulated by snow. And...

Yesterday, a group affiliated with Occupy Wall Street submitted an astounding comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Point by point, it methodicallychallenges the arguments of finance industry lobbyists who want to water down last year’s historic Dodd-Frank Wall Street reforms. The lobbyists have been using the law’s official public comment period to try to kneecap...

The “Quitta from Wasilla,” half-term Governor Sarah Palin, is almost infamous for her factually inaccurate statements. In the past, she’s made some pretty outrageous assertions, like when she claimed that Paul Revere rode to warn the British. Palin took her anti-intellectualism to a new level yesterday, when she stated that she doesn’t believe that the economy is improving, because the...

Rick Santorum is a Roman Catholic. Normally, there’s nothing wrong with that. Unless you declare war on other Christians. Then it becomes a problem and that’s exactly what Santorum did in a 2008 speech about Protestantism at Ave Maria University. According to Santorum, 45 million Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Congregationalists, and many Americans who belong to other sects of...

The Map is Not the Territory – Alfred Korzybski and the Lineage of Western Gurus 19FEB Alfred Korzybski was a Polish philosopher who wrote about a theory of general semantics in a book called Science and Sanity. Enlightened self-interest Here the person basically puts herself first and puts the interests of significant others a close second. Sometimes, however, she will put the interests of others before her own. Enlightened self-interest is therefore a flexible position and contrasts with selfishness (the dogmatic position where the person is only concerned with her own interests and is indifferent to...

Mind Science Quotes of the Day
“It must be, then, that an individual can be trapped only when he considers that he is trapped. In view of the fact that the totality of existence is based upon his own considerations, we find that the limitations he has must have been invited by himself— otherwise they could not be eradicated by [him]. The pre-clear by … can resolve all of his [emotional] difficulties without going...
